Commitment to Iraq
If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it. 1 Cor 12:26
On August 26, 2014 Bishop Saad Sirop Hanna of the Diocese of Baghdad, Iraq challenged the worlds Catholics to spend 30 minutes in prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament for the Christians facing exile and marytrdom in Iraq.
Maria Immacolata responded to his call to prayer by hosting a period of Eucharistic Adoration, celebrating the Holy Mass and praying the Holy Rosary and the Angelus.
We invite all of our parishoners to continue to pray for all those affected by ISIS. Please remember our brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering persecution because of their faith in Christ. We encourage you to offer Masses, pray the Holy Rosary, spend time in Eucharistic Adoration, and offer prayers throughout your day.
The following prayer was written by His Beatitude, Louis Rafael Sako, the Chaldean Patriarch of Iraq.
Prayer for Iraq
Lord,
The plight of Iraq
is deep and the suffering of Christians
is severe and frightening.Therefore, we ask you Lord
to spare their lives, and to grant them patience,
and courage to continue their witness of Christian values
with trust and hope.
Lord, peace is the foundation of life;
Grant them the peace and stability that will enable them
to live with each other without fear and anxiety,
and with dignity and joy.
Glory be to you forever.
