Our Religious Education Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) program is divided into two sections, Our Lower CCD classes are composed of children in grades 1-6 and our Upper CCD class is for children grades 7-11. All of our segments are designed to enrich the Catholic life of our students and encourage them to grow in the faith.
Lower CCD is open to all public school children whose parents are registered parishioners of our parish. The program provides the students with an overview of their Catholic faith. We utilize the "We Believe" series by Sadlier which allows our teachers to frame every lesson to be age-appropriate and appealing. "We Believe" also follows the liturgical year and provides the students with an understanding of the seasons of the Church. In the second grade, students are prepared to receive the sacraments of First Penance and First Eucharist. Registration for new students begins in the month of May each year.
Upper CCD is open to all public school children whose parents are registered parishioners of our parish. The Confirmation Program is included in the Upper CCD program. Our Confirmation students have two years of Confirmation formation in which time they are preparing to own their faith and to confirm their belief in Christ and his church. Both public and private school children go through this process together and receive the sacrament at the parish level. Ninth grade students study the "Catechism of the Catholic Church", while eighth and seventh grade students complete the "We Believe" series.
Our CCD teachers are very dedicated to planting the first seeds of faith in early formation, nurturing that seed with the help of parents as they progress through the series and finally guiding that seed as it bears fruit in the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Lower CCD
Our Lower CCD program is held on Monday nights from 5:30 - 6:45 pm at the Community Gathering Center next to Church and/or the Church building. Our Lower CCD program gives religious nurturing to kindergarten through sixth grade. This program utilizes the "We Believe" series from Sadlier publishing. Through the lower CCD program, our children celebrate two Sacraments for the first time, Holy Eucharist and Reconciliation.
Upper CCD
Our Upper CCD program is held on Sunday afternoons from 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm at the Community Gathering Center next to Church and/or the Church building. Classes end with the Celebration of Holy Mass (Youth Mass) at 5:30 pm in the main church. This program reaches young people in grades 7 - 11 and prepares them for confirmation through in depth study of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the "We Believe Series," retreats and Confirmation formation. Our 11th grade students celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation.
